WOW Events
Beech class were visited by Mark Tompsett who is a Paralympic swimmer from Chorley. Mark talked to us all about how he started swimming aged two and how he found a passion for the water. Mark took part in the Paris Paralympics and won a bronze medal, which he showed us too. The children asked some super insightful questions and were really inspired by his visit.
We were very proud of five members of Beech class this week. You may remember that they entered the Great Lancashire Debate with a presentation all about what they would like Lancashire to look like in 50 years time. A few weeks ago we received the exciting news that we were the local area winners for Chorley, which meant that we would compete in the grand final against 5 other schools from other districts of Lancashire. This week the children travelled to take part at County Hall. They gave a superb presentation followed by a question and answer session from the judges, with some extremely tough questions. We were overjoyed when the children were awarded with the achievement of being overall winners for the whole of Lancashire, with Lola also winning overall individual best speaker. An amazing achievement!
